Chairman of the Korean Society of Anesthesiologists

Dear members of Korean Society of Anesthesiologists and foreign colleagues,

I am highly delighted to announce our 95th Korean Society of Anesthesiologists Conference 2018. The Korean Society of Anesthesiologists grew into one of the major academic societies of Korea through continued development since its foundation in 1956.


The Korean Society of Anesthesiologists has been actively participating in international academic exchanges with various foreign countries as well as domestic academic conferences since its beginning. In 1990, we hosted the 8th Asian Australasian Congress of Anesthesiologists in Seoul. We were selected as the host, and are now preparing for the 16th Asian Australasian Congress of Anesthesiologists, slated to be held in 2022. Our conference in 2017 was also an international academic meeting like the previous Seoul International Conference held in 2014, and many international fellow scholars took part in this meeting.


This upcoming 95th Korean Society of Anesthesiologists Conference 2018 is also an international conference held under the slogan Patient-centered Anesthesia “One-Step Ahead.” The other important meeting of the field is the 2018 East Asian Congress of Anesthesiologists, which will be held during the same period. In our conference, we offer programs with a variety of themes as well as special lectures delivered by prominent international speakers. We kindly encourage international scholars to send us your abstracts for presentation as well as valued members of our Korean Society of Anesthesiologists.


It is our sincere wish that many participants take part in our conference to share meaningful time with fellow scholars through academic exchanges and friendship in this beautiful season when Korea is tinged with the color of late fall. We hope to meet you during 8th to 10th of November 2018.

Dear colleagues,

This year the 95th KoreAnesthesia 2018 will be held as an international symposium for 3 days from November 8 (Thu) – 10 (Sat) at Seoul Dragon City hotel.

We invited the foreign speakers in each field to hear the latest knowledge in anesthesiology under the catchphrase of ‘Patient-centered anesthesia: One step ahead.’ Our society will also host the East Asian Congress of Anesthesiologists (EACA) during the same period, thereby interacting with the Japanese Society of Anesthesiologists and Chinese Society of Anesthesiology. In addition, members from various countries will participate in this symposium thanks to the MOU signed with overseas societies since 2017.

We have prepared various events during the symposium including the refresh program on Thursday morning and dualized training for residents, and have diversified the workshops and simulation programs, while also making many other preparations including simultaneous interpretation to promote active participation of members and increase options for them during the symposium.

We hope the international symposium consecutively held this year again can provide a venue for our members to interact and bond globally. We think this is the right direction to expand externally while also securing internal stability.

Finally, we would like to thank the committee members including the director of academy, executive directors, speakers and chairpersons for their efforts in preparing this conference as an international symposium. We would also like to thank once again our business partners for their cooperation in the development of our society despite the tough circumstances.

We hope the KoreAnesthesia 2018 is held in success, and we look forward to your active participation.
