Scientific Abstract Submission

The Korean Society of Anesthesiologists (KSA) invites the submission of scientific abstracts to be considered for presentation at the 95th Annual Scientific Meeting of the KSA (KoreAnesthesia 2018) to be held from Nov 8-10, 2018 in Seoul, Korea

General Instructions

  • The abstract submission site will open at 9:00 AM GMT+0900 on Mar 10, 2018, and will close at 23:59 GMT+0900 on Jul 31st, 2018. Any abstracts submitted after this deadline will not be considered for acceptance. Completing your submission process at least 2-3 days before the deadline is recommended to avoid connection error due to website overload. Abstract modification is also possible until the abstract submission deadline.
  • Abstract submissions are only accepted online at http://koreanesthesia.med1dev.net/html/?pmode=aabstract.
  • Please make sure you receive an e-mail confirmation of your submission before the abstract submission deadline. If you do not receive an e-mail confirmation within 30 mins of finalizing your abstract submission, please call our submission hotline (+82 2 6263 2053) or e-mail us at secretariat@koreanesthesia.org for assistance with your submission.
  • Submission of scientific papers that have already been published in indexed journals is not allowed. However, papers that are not yet submitted or currently under review are eligible for submission.
  • Notification of acceptance will be sent to the submitting author via e-mail on Aug 14, 2018.
  • The submitting author must complete and submit a disclosure form for potential conflict of interest. A conflict of interest may exist when an author (or author's institution or employer) has financial or personal relationships or affiliations that could influence (or bias) the author's decisions, work, or abstract. The ICMJE Uniform Disclosure Form for Potential Conflict of Interest (www.icmje.org/conflicts-of-interest/) will be used. Your submission will not be considered final until disclosure information is complete.
  • The submitting author must confirm that the submitted research was approved by the author's affiliated institution's institutional review board (IRB). Abstracts that involve human studies must confirm that informed consent was obtained from each subject and/or legal guardian, or that waiver of consent was granted by the IRB.
  • The submitting author is considered as the presenting author. The presenting author of each abstract must attend the Annual Scientific Meeting of the KSA and must register no later than Jul 31, 2018. If you wish to change the presenting author after submission of the abstract, you must notify the KSA in writing as soon as possible (secretariat@koreanesthesia.org). The new presenter must be a co-author of the abstract.
  • Presenting authors from outside of the Republic of Korea will be granted complimentary registration to attend the KoreAnesthesia 2018.
  • The KSA reserves the right to withdraw an abstract at any time.
  • Submissions will be made to one of the following Categories. Please note that submitting your abstract under an unrelated field may act as a disadvantage during the review process.

Instructions for Online Abstract Submission

  • All abstracts must be written in English. Spellings should abide by American spelling.
  • The KSA will not edit abstracts. Carefully review your abstract for grammar and syntax prior to submission. If English is not your first language, we recommend that you have your abstract reviewed by a native speaker before submission.
  • The abstract title is limited to 300 characters (including spaces). Type your title using upper and lower case letters and refrain from using abbreviations.
  • Abstracts should consist of four sections: Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusion. The Background section should clearly state the study hypothesis, and the Methods and Results should be written in sufficient detail to support the conclusions.
  • The abstract text is limited to 3,400 characters (including spaces). Up to two references (refer to the submission guidelines of the KJA) are allowed, limited to a total of 500 characters. Please do not include the abstract title and name of the authors in the main text.
  • For case reports, the text should include Introduction, Case report, and Conclusion, and is limited to 3,400 characters(including spaces).
  • Up to two figures or tables are allowed for each abstract.
  • You can check the number of characters while you are entering your abstract. When the character count limit is exceeded, contents will be automatically deleted as much as the number of characters exceeded.
  • Carefully review your entire abstract on the preview screen before completing your submission.

Information for Abstract Presentation

  • The presenting author should prepare a “Presentation File" and abstract submitter can submit the file via the KoreAnesthesia website.For submission, please, go to http://koreanesthesia.org > Login> My Page > My Abstract Submission > choose file(파일선택).
  • Presentation file must be submitted as a PDF or PPT file and will be displayed on a digital image display device for presentation.
  • The presenting author will give a 5-min oral presentation of his/her poster, which will be followed by a 2-min Q & A session.
  • Presentation code starts with ‘APE ‘ and ‘AC’ are the English presentation, and starts with ‘APK’ is the Korean presentation.
  • The time and place of your presentation will be announced and notified by the secretariat in Sep 14, 2018.
  • If you do not have any co-authors to present your abstract, contact the secretariat. And explain your case, and request that one of your abstracts be presented at the beginning of one session and the other poster as the last one in the other session. This way you can present both abstracts by yourself.
    • Please consider changing the presenting author to another co-author.
    • If you do not have any co-authors to present your poster, contact the chairpersons of your assigned sessions on-site on the day of your poster session. Explain your case, and request that one of your posters be presented at the beginning of one session and the other poster as the last one in the other session. This way you can present both abstracts by yourself.
  • The time and place of your presentation will be announced and notified by the Secretariat in Sep 14.
  • More detailed instructions will be available in September.

Abstract Competition

  • Abstract competitions will be held at the following different sessions: 1) Session for Case Report 2) Session for research Ⅰ and 3) Session for research Ⅱ.
  • Nominees for the Best Abstract Competition will be notified by the KSA. Each nominee will give a presentation followed by a Q & A and discussion of abstract as follows:
    • Session for Case Report: Please prepare a 5-min presentation with 3-min Q & A.
    • Session for Research: Please prepare a 7-min presentation with 3-min Q & A
  • The presenting author should prepare and abstract submitter can submit a presentation slide deck (Pdf or MS-PowerPoint only) at http://koreanesthesia.org > Login> My Page > My Abstract Submission > choose file(파일선택).
  • The time and place of your presentation will be announced and notified by the Secretariat in Sep 14, 2018.
  • More detailed instructions will be available in September.
